February Opportunities: Encounter Faith Together

We’ve made it to the month of February, and I want to make sure everyone has a chance to get connected and get involved. There are lots of great opportunities to grow in faith, enjoy community, worship together, and even to invite friends. Don’t miss out!

This coming Sunday, February 11, we will celebrate an important point in the Gospels referred to as Jesus’ transfiguration. You can read the scripture passage from Mark 9:2-9. Our service will include special music and more.

Following the service, you won’t want to miss our annual Mardi Gras party. Our celebration will include a pancake breakfast, decorations, a Dixieland style band, a ventriloquist presentation and more. Don’t worry, there will still be plenty of time to make it home for the Superbowl.

On Wednesday, February 14, we will celebrate the beginning of the season of Lent with an Ash Wednesday service. Our gathering will include a meal at 5:30 pm, followed by a worship service at 6:00pm. We will explore together the themes and meanings of Ash Wednesday in an informal worship setting. The imposition of ashes will be offered as well for those wishing to participate.

On Sunday, February 18, everyone is invited to participate in Painting Bowls to support a fundraiser event for Volunteers of America. Those interested can stay after church for lunch (pizza and salads) and then travel together to Prouty Pottery to paint bowls with friends and connect with others. Speak with Dottie Pugsley for more details and to register ahead, so we can plan accordingly.

Also, we will begin our Lenten Chats this month. On Wednesdays at noon, beginning February 21, join us for lunch in the Social room, followed by conversation around our Lenten devotional readings. If you don’t have the devotional, you can download it HERE, or pick up a copy at church.

With so many opportunities to learn, grow and experience faith and community together, I sincerely hope that you will find a chance to connect and get involved. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out (adam@fpcrc.org). What activities are you most excited about, << Test First Name >>? See you soon.

Very truly,

Pastor Adam
